Swedish massage was developed in the 1800's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrick Ling. It uses techniques which have far reaching physiological, physical, mental and emotional effects.

Through the use of specific strokes on the body, Swedish massage helps to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and eliminate the build up of toxins in the body.

This type of massage reduces the recovery time needed from muscular strain. It increases the circulation without putting any strain on the heart. It gently stretches the tendons and ligaments keeping them supple. It also stimulates the skin and nervous system while soothing the nerves at the same time.

The Treatment -

There are five main strokes used in Swedish Massage: effleurage and petrissage which warms the skin and stimulates the circulation, preparing the body for the firmer, remedial work of kneading, hacking and pounding.

Problem areas can be pin pointed and worked upon, using advanced techniques, or the routine can be carried out purely for relaxation.
